Basilic
Canvas paintings of marine life and whimsical hand painted baby clothes
Stacey Sterling of Basilic has been a working artist since 1980. First selling art on the boardwalk in Santa Monica, Calif. to life on a Greek Island. Stacey always gravitated toward the ocean and that is how she ended up in the Pacific Northwest and working at Pike Place Market.
Swimming with octopus, fishes, and all kinds of sea life triggered Stacey's deep passion for painting. Her mission is to bring people closer to the ocean and learn about environmental issues through murals, paintings and clothing designs. By engaging the public and including them in art projects, Stacey hopes to make positive changes toward a cleaner ocean. Stacey loves painting commissions, as well as, special order baby outfits. You can see her newest work on Instagram and Facebook. To place an order, please email Stacey at Staczart@gmail.com

Buskeretcher
Copper etchings
After years of drawing and painting, I was given an etching press. As an enthusiast of Western and Eastern ink drawing and painting styles, I find a natural attraction to the bold lines of etching and the soft tones of aquatint. Once I learned the craft, I never looked back.
I find inspiration from artists of the past such as Goya and Gorey. Artists who understood the simplicity of black ink on white paper. I focus on the everyday. What appears mundane becomes spiritual - the utility pole is an abstract, lighthouses are fortresses, trees, philosophers.
Musicians are common subjects of my etchings and I explore the similarities between music and the visual arts. In the arts, as in life, meaning is found in relationships. Relationships of musical notes, of shapes and between human beings.

My creative inspiration comes from the beauty I find in the natural world, the innocence of animals, the joy in simple pleasures, the importance of love, friendship, community and compassion. It is the essence of these things I hope to convey through my art. Quite honestly, I paint what I love. My art is often described as heart-smiling, colorful, enchanting and happy. I use watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, pen and ink, colored pencils etc. Most of my originals are painted on wood panel, pressed board, stretched canvas or paper. Saisei Apparel
Upcycling Vintage Kimono & Obis into new Garments and Bags
Kim Ramirez owner of Saisei Apparel travels to Japan to purchase kimonos from families, estate sales, and kimono shops. Each item of clothing has a history and she honors that heritage by carefully constructing new garments. To do this, Kim take each kimono apart by hand before deciding what the second-life of the garment will become.
Kimono fabric is only 14" wide, so she has designed and purchased special patterns that work with the intricacy of the kimono fabric. Each kimono and obi was hand painted or woven by a person not a machine; the garment in itself is one-of-a-kind.
100% of Saisei Apparel garments are sewnin Seattle by Kim. Saisei Apparel garments are about remembering the past in order to craft the future. The Japanese word "saisei" meaning "Rebirth" is composed of the kanji 再 (read sai) meaning "again; twice; second time" and 生 (read sei) meaning "life; birth".

Robert, Barbara & Robert Matteson II
A family jewelry business operating at Pike Place Market since 1986.
Each ring, bracelet, pendant and earring starts out as a flat piece of metal. The metal is given a unique design through the use of hand tools and engraving techniques. The designs are inspired by nature and by the pottery, textiles and baskets of ancient cultures. Robert is a member of Society of North American Goldsmiths.
Canes of opaque and transparent colored glass are used to make the lampwork beads. Shaping each bead involves, heat (1450 F), gravity and patience. Barbara is a member of International Society of Glass Beadmakers.
